Allan and Elliot's Trip to Atlanta
April 7 - 10th 2003
We
have flown over it, drove through it, but never stopped in Georgia. Atlanta was about 7 1/2 hours drive from Kissimmee. It was not what we expected nor did it
disappoint us, in fact it was better then what we had imagined. It looked remarkably just
like Washington DC without the Smithsonian. We stayed on the north side in a suburb named
Marietta. A beautiful new hotel at a very low price of $44 per night including heated pool,
spa, gym and breakfast. We visited Six Flags
Over Georgia, Stone Mountain National Park and drove the spectacular Antebellum trail.
Here are a few pictures:
Six
Flags Over Georgia:

-It drizzled all day
but no one cared

-This old fashioned coaster looked
harmless but was it
rough

-The Ninja

-Allan was crazy over the dogwoods and azaleas

-The "Space Shuttle" Elliot rode it 3 times in a row

-My stomach could not handle this one
|
Off to Stone Mountain:

-The Three Generals carved in stone

-At the top of Stone Mountain the clouds were heavy...

...and very cold

-Plantation House

-Allan: I just loved that Antebellum lifestyle
-They had 12 buildings to just walk around and investigate.
The Town:

Allan:
It was like going back in time. We did the steam train,
the aerial tram and saw a 3D show about telling stories. We enjoyed meeting a glass
blower and he showed us a few tricks of his trade. Stone Mountain is a great heritage park
and I understand why after the Grand Canyon and Smokey Mt. National park it is the
third most visited park in America.
