Trip to Montreal - August 25th

-After a day of rest we decided on another day trip. This time through the hills of Oka

We started the day with a stop of Nanny Giroux's grave. I had always wanted to see it but somehow after 40 years I finally found out where to look. It is located on a hill side between Two Mountains and St. Marthe sur le Lac. Currently Auntie Germaine and Uncle Leo are also buried there. There are two spots left. One for my mother and the other for my cousin Madeleine.

-Oka has its own cathedral like church, over 300 years old

-Every church has an equally grand rectory

-Here Nanny and Albert walk their dog Pudding along
the laneway down to the government dock in Oka

-A side street in this very historical town

-Savonnerie Oka. This soap making place is truly unique
- I bought several home made soaps and a few herbal teas

-Nanny in the soap store

Finally a stop we repeated a few days later at the Resto la Pataterie. This is the St. Eustache home of the most incredible French Canadian delight named La Poutine. (fries with gravy and melted curds) They also sold "Michigan's and Frites".
